GLOBAL MESSAGING
SOLUTIONS INC. SELECTS SOFTWARE.COM'S INTERMAIL PLATFORM
High capacity, carrier-scale software provides reliable,
scalable solution for GMSI messaging services
OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS
(September 22, 1999) - Global Messaging Solutions Inc. (GMSI),
an electronic-messaging solutions provider, announced today
that the company has chosen Software.com's (Nasdaq: SWCM)
carrier-scale InterMail® Kx platform as its eMail services
messaging infrastructure. Using InterMail software, GMSI
plans to start offering hosted Internet services later this
year.
The agreement puts in place another key operational element
for the company's Internet-based communications services,
such as eMail, designed for small- and medium-size businesses.
Today's announcement follows an agreement reached in August
between GMSI and Qwest Communications International Inc.
(Nasdaq: QWST), whose nationwide fiber-optic network backbone
will enable the delivery of GMSI's services to a broad customer
base.

"GMSI is committed to delivering our customers reliable,
worry-free messaging solutions that help their businesses
succeed," said William J. Brunkhardt, chief executive
officer of GMSI. "Software.com's InterMail software
is optimized for our needs - providing industry-leading
performance, proven reliability and an architecture that
allows for the growth we expect."
"GMSI is poised to take advantage of the fast-growing
demands of messaging outsourcing," said John MacFarlane,
CEO, Software.com. "The InterMail software is designed
specifically for companies like GMSI, because it offers
premium business features, a fully distributed architecture
and a scalable configuration that allows for easy transition
to other Software.com products. With Software.com's InterMail
software, GMSI will offer its customers a truly advanced
business solution for their communication needs."
GMSI is entering the marketplace just as the exploding use
of eMail and other electronic messaging services has begun
to strain the technological resources of many businesses.
Foregoing the high costs of on-premise network solutions,
more and more companies are turning electronic messaging
responsibilities over to outside contractors. And by 2001,
industry research indicates that about 65 percent of U.S.
businesses will outsource their electronic messaging.
